She was named Diana on the island of Themyscira a millennia or two before the present age. Daughter of Queen Hippolyta, favored by the gods, gifted with talents above and beyond even the skills of her sister Amazons. Fact had become legend over time, stories changing as they were told and retold, but Diana's memories remain as sharp as they day they were created.

She remembers the war on Troy. The final battle before Themyscira closed itself to the world of men and the strife they waged upon each other. She remembers the ages of peace on the island - happy times with her sisters, hunting, fishing, training for sport and play.

And she remembers the day a pilot named Steve Trevor crash landed on the island, and the havoc he'd brought with him. The first man any of them had seen in years, his plea for safe passage to his home land of America landing on ears of distrust and skepticism. But the Amazons had held a contest - as they often did when presented with a choice - to see who would return him to his homeland and become the first Themysciran ambassador to the World of Men.

Of course, she'd competed. Disguised herself in another's armor in hopes her mother wouldn't recognize her and when she'd won - of course she'd won - Queen Hippolyta had no choice but to send her daughter off to the world she'd protected her people from for centuries.

The World of Men. It was frightening, fascinating - and not a thing like the world she remembered. Lights, music, food, technology beyond her imagination. The people were surprising - nothing like her mother had warned her about. Or, perhaps, not entirely like her mother warned her about. Still, one thing from the old world remained: war. The second World War of this country, and she'd helped where she could. But the world hadn't exactly been ready for Wonder Woman in all her feminist glory, and after the war she'd returned home for a short stint.

And now she'd returned. To a world even more foreign than before, and in far more trouble in many ways.

Thankfully, she's up for the challenge.
